Exo Terra is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to support our cutting‑edge aerospace hardware and propulsion product lines. In this role, you will design, validate, and optimize packaging systems that protect high‑value aerospace components during storage, handling, and transportation—whether across the facility or across the globe.
You will develop packaging solutions that meet stringent aerospace industry requirements, reduce waste, improve cost efficiency, and ensure the safe movement of precision‑engineered hardware. The role includes creating prototypes, performing rigorous testing, and collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.

Objectives of This Role- Develop and implement packaging solutions that meet Exo Terra’s technical, regulatory, and customer requirements for aerospace hardware.
- Identify, evaluate, and select optimal packaging materials, technologies, and equipment to ensure product integrity throughout the supply chain.
- Reduce packaging‑related costs and strengthen process efficiency across assembly, storage, and logistics operations.
- Monitor aerospace and industrial packaging trends to integrate modern best practices, materials, and technologies.
- Design protective packaging systems for aerospace components, ensuring safety during transportation, storage, and handling in a high‑reliability environment.
- Conduct feasibility studies to validate packaging solutions for unique product geometries, sensitivities, and mission‑critical requirements.
- Analyze data and conduct research to continuously enhance packaging processes, materials, and workflows.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation related to packaging methods, handling instructions, and compliance protocols.
- Ensure consistency, repeatability, and quality across all packaging operations throughout the organization.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to meet program needs and schedules.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design
, or a related technical field. - 3+ years of experience in packaging design and development, preferably in aerospace, defense, electronics, or other high‑precision industries.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, design principles, test methods, and regulatory standards applicable to aerospace.
- Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and production equipment used in industrial or aerospace environments.
- Knowledge of sustainable packaging practices and environmental considerations, especially for regulated materials.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works) and strong project‑management capabilities.
- Demonstrated creativity in developing innovative, space‑efficient, and protective packaging solutions

Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace or defense packaging regulations
, including MIL‑STD, ASTM, and other relevant standards. - Understanding of additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping techniques for packaging development.
- Familiarity with automation, robotics, or advanced packaging systems used in modern manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with packaging design, simulation, or lifecycle software tools

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Competitive salary range: $105,000-$125,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
