Calibration Engineer
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Calibration Engineer to join our Quality Engineering Team this role you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used in aerospace manufacturing and testing. Your duties include developing, implementing and maintaining calibration processes that comply with industry regulations and quality standards, playing a key role in delivering product integrity and regulatory compliance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and continuously improve a calibration program that meets applicable industry standards, customer and internal requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Schedule and perform calibrations to ensure equipment and instrument compliance and minimize production downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of calibration activities, ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with quality management system (QMS) requirements.
- Develop and execute calibration procedures for aerospace measurement and test equipment (M&TE), ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 17025 and other relevant industry standards.
- Manage suppliers and service providers, including negotiating pricing and contracts to secure the best possible terms for equipment rental, purchase and calibration services. Evaluate vendor performance and ensure quality standards are met.
- Analyze calibration data to identify trends, implement corrective actions and optimize measurement processes.
- Lead investigations into calibration failures, out-of-tolerance conditions and nonconformances, implementing corrective actions and improvements.
- Work closely with various departments and sites to evaluate and recommend new calibration equipment, software and best practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure timely and efficient renting or leasing of necessary equipment to avoid downtime, limit cost and maintain productivity.
- Support audits (internal and external) by providing calibration records, procedures and technical expertise.
- Train technicians and operators on proper calibration techniques and equipment handling.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligibility to comply with U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations: must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee or refugee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or a related field) or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in calibration, metrology or quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Strong understanding of metrology principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and measurement uncertainty analysis.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540 and other relevant quality and calibration standards.
- Experience with asset management software, statistical analysis tools and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent metrology certifications.
Salary: $94,000 - $112,000 a year.
