GFT is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join our Dams and Hydraulics team in Denver, CO or Phoenix, AZ. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance in the office.
In this role you will drive design, analysis, and computer modeling for dam and reservoir projects, mentor junior engineers, and manage client relationships.
Responsibilities- Prepare proposals by developing work scope, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Manage projects by monitoring progress, providing technical assistance, and interfacing with clients.
- Analyze concrete dams and appurtenant structures using computer software and hand calculations.
- Conduct field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients.
- Serve as engineer of record for design and/or analysis projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering.
- 15+ years of experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state.
- Strong data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong technical writing skills (e.g., reports, proposals).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate with clients, staff, and regulators.
- Master’s Degree with emphasis in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with finite element analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP
2000, STADD). - Experience participating in risk analysis of dams.
- Experience performing seismic analysis of dams and appurtenant structures.
- Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
