Overview

Martin/Martin is seeking a Civil Investigative Engineer to join our Investigative Engineering Group in our Denver, Colorado office. Our team develops and manages engineering services for the renovation, restoration, retrofit, and repair of existing site elements, including grading, drainage, pavement systems, subsurface utilities, and roadways. We support a broad range of civil projects, including condition assessments, non-destructive testing, and expert witness services.

This role combines in-office design work with on-site evaluations. Candidates should bring a working knowledge of civil site standards, applicable codes, and construction practices, along with the ability to draw informed conclusions from field investigations. Core responsibilities include supporting project managers with field investigations, preparing technical reports, and producing engineering deliverables aligned with project needs. A typical week may involve developing repair drawings, coordinating with project teams, performing engineering analyses, conducting site evaluations, managing construction administration activities, and participating in industry events.

Throughout the project lifecycle, you will collaborate closely with property owners, municipalities, architects, and contractors, building strong professional relationships and contributing to successful project outcomes.

The Team

Our Civil Engineering teams focus on site and infrastructure design, including leading projects such as the 16th Street Mall redesign in Denver.

Responsibilities

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum
  • Proficiency with Civil3D
  • Has passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination
  • 2-5 years' experience
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work in the Denver area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.

Desired

  • Experience or interest in forensic engineering and/or expert witness support
  • Relevant Intern experience
  • Knowledge or proficiency with Storm

    CAD, Flow Master, Water

    CAD, Auto Turn
  • Knowledge of building and material design codes
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time
  • Strong written, technical, and interpersonal skills
  • Construction field experience
  • Can manage small projects through design
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
Working Conditions, Skills, & Abilities

This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:

  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
