Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007.

Vault’s capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada, focusing on single CO2 source, near‑site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract.

Vault has secured a US $300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX‑based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB.

Opportunity

Vault is currently seeking a Project Engineer with subsurface, and operations engineering experience to support the evaluation and development of CCS projects within Vault’s development portfolio. As a key member of the team, the Project Engineer will interface with internal and external project participants and stakeholders to support integrated project development including technical evaluation, budgeting, economic justification, regulatory approval, and execution of projects.

of Role

Evaluate and develop CO2 storage projects:

  • Promote safe execution of projects with defined scope, schedule, and budget
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, including but not limited to project design and operations
  • Provide engineering technical support (reservoir, drilling, pipeline and/or facility)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and execute projects
  • Apply technical and project experience to evaluate project alternatives and effectively manage change
  • Interface with external resources supporting project requirements
  • Support contractor and vendor coordination, including tracking work scope progress, establishing recurring touchpoints during execution, and assisting with invoice review and approval workflows
  • Support project economic modeling and sensitivity assessment
  • Support project controls activities including budget tracking, cost forecasting, spend monitoring, and variance identification. Prepare supporting materials for project review meetings
  • Support project regulatory approval at County, State, and Federal levels
  • Support team with landowner, community, and government relations
  • Support generation of management and partner presentations
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA
  • Travel to project/partner sites will be required with variable frequency
  • This position can be remote or hybrid, depending on candidate location
  • Annual salary range is $130,000 to $150,000, depending on ability and experience
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Engineering (petroleum, mechanical or chemical preferred) with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in technical support roles in the upstream oil and gas and/or carbon capture and storage industry
  • Familiarity with field development (reservoir engineering, geology, drilling/completions and/or fluid dynamics is an asset)
  • Experience with carbon sequestration or enhanced oil recovery is an asset
  • Experience with EPA regulations, Class VI permitting process, or CCS‑specific regulatory frameworks is an asset
  • Proven technical evaluation skills with previous experience successfully supporting project development
  • Self‑directed with the ability to collaborate and organize activities from multidisciplinary teams
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Excellent time management and ability to multitask
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient in Office
    365 package (skilled in Excel and PowerPoint)
