Summary Of Job Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Process Controls Engineer is responsible for helping direct, coordinate and actively participate in creating a sustainable culture of continuous improvement with focus on manufacturing equipment systems controls and integration. Key responsibilities include assessment of the current manufacturing infrastructure and activities, development of the future state vision, and execution to reach that state. The role encompasses all product segments within the Denver Plant and may interact with other Band‑It plants worldwide regarding equipment & process controls standardization.

Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Duties And Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, repair, and resolve electrical, instrumentation, and process issues on production equipment, with emphasis on PLC‑controlled servo/stepper motors and sensor technologies.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to address equipment downtime related to motor‑driven control elements.
- Develop and document functional specifications for production systems, including hardware/software interfaces.
- Establish and maintain sustainable factory‑wide standards for automation controls (hardware and software: PLC & HMI) and process monitoring.
- Work with maintenance and manufacturing process engineering to implement process improvements, including PLC and HMI program modifications.
- Ensure equipment and control systems comply with current safety and control best practices.
- Develop IQ, OQ, and PQ methodologies for new equipment and process builds.
- Assist in training operators on processes and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully.
- Advanced understanding of PLC programming and HMI development, specifically Rockwell / Allen‑Bradley platforms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of servo and stepper motor theory of operation and condition monitoring techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current standards and codes as related to machine safety and fail‑safe design (ISO, NFPA, NEMA, NEC, ANSI).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Electrical design principles and familiarity with AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Basic knowledge of database fundamentals, computer operating systems.
- Experience with data analysis using basic statistical comparison techniques & Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Skilled in training and mentoring employees on process improvements and lean techniques.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for cross‑functional projects.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, required.
- 3 – 5 years of controls, automation and electrical trouble‑shooting and machine start‑up experience.
- Experience with Rockwell PLCs / HMI required.
- Systems integration experience, i.e. integration of various servo, sensor and vision technologies through PLC and HMI.
