Overview

GFiber is an Alphabet company that delivers Google Fiber and Google Fiber Webpass internet services to homes and businesses across the United States. The Metro Technical Operations team is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of fiber optic and wireless networks as well as the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and small business customers on our network.

Special Projects Manager, Technical Operations will support engineering, deployment, operations, last mile and maintenance of a fiber optic network for residential and business customers throughout Denver. In this role, you will report to the Head of Metro Technical Operations and flex within the Market to meet business needs, plugging into critical areas and rapidly moving to new improvement opportunities as the business evolves.

You may lend support to other Markets within the Region and take on stretch opportunities leading initiatives impacting functional, Market, or Regional areas. The ability to identify process and performance gaps, adapt, and proactively pursue solutions is essential.

• Support the Tech Ops Market Team of GFiber's FTTH build with ownership and project management across Engineering, Construction, and Network Maintenance as assigned by the Head of Metro Technical Operations (HoMTO).
• Ensure alignment between design and service delivery, guaranteeing the best local network is designed, built, and maintained with speed and budget.
• Coordinate with city management, jurisdictional authorities and utility representatives to ensure targets are met.
• Support and manage the end-to-end Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployment cycle, including GIS, network planning, engineering design, permitting, and design reviews across SFU, MDU, and SBU environments. This includes supporting proposals, bids, scope definitions, vendor selection and final approvals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience with fiber network deployments (outside and inside plant).
• 7 years of leadership experience leading teams and managing vendors.
• 7 years of experience with budgeting, forecasting costs, project reporting, capacity planning, quality assurance, equipment turn-up, testing and acceptance.

• MBA or Master’s degree in Technology.
• 10 years of relevant industry experience with technical and people management experience.
• Experience developing RFPs, scheduling projects, cost engineering, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, procurement and contractor/vendor engagement.
• Experience with inside (ISP) and outside (OSP) fiber infrastructure and engineering design/construction.
• Experience with network drawings, route maps and scopes of work, interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for scope compliance.
• Experience in operational improvement, process/workflow development, and managing complex cross-functional projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $153,600 and $169,000 plus bonus, cash awards and benefits. Compensation varies by location; recruiters will share the specific range for your target location during the hiring process.
