Overview
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Geologist to support environmental investigation and monitoring, due diligence, and remediation projects in our Environmental Services global practice in Englewood, CO.
Responsibilities- Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc.
- Prepare Phase I environmental site assessments
- Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and low-flow groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, soil characterization and logging, etc.
- Perform project and task management duties on remediation projects.
- Subcontractor contracting, scheduling, and management of field activities.
- Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget and schedule.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or closely related field from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 4 years of related professional experience completing environmental investigations, analyzing and summarizing investigation data, preparing environmental reports, etc.
- Experience assisting with or conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II environmental site investigations
- Demonstrated aptitude performing environmental field monitoring activities, including collection of soil and groundwater samples, logging soil borings, installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells, data analysis, and authoring reports
- Experience in the field supporting remedial actions, including emergency response, excavation oversight, in-situ treatments, soils and waste management, site restoration, etc.
- Experience with and working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with annual updates
- Self-motivation and the ability to self-manage and multi-task (write reports, analyze data, perform design tasks, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a team framework
- Previous consulting experience is a plus. Experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) at regulated facilities is strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel and work in the field, up to 30%, as required.

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
