You will play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient mining by identifying, assessing, managing and mitigating hydrogeological risks across operations and project studies. Your expertise will also protect groundwater resources, aid with regulatory compliance and support water stewardship.
Responsibilities- Deliver technical hydrogeological expertise to operations, projects, and studies
- Develop and implement hydrogeological assessment programs
- Define and develop conceptual and numerical groundwater models
- Identify groundwater and mine water risks and describe effective groundwater monitoring and mitigation strategies
- Provide guidance on dewatering, depressurisation, and water supply solutions
- Prepare clear, high‑quality technical reports and recommendations
- Collaborate with water management, environmental, and site teams to support water balance models
- Stay current with advancements in hydrogeology and apply innovative practices where appropriate
- Support technical capability building through training and knowledge sharing
- Master’s Degree qualification in Hydrogeology, Geoscience, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred but not essential
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional body
- Operational experience in dewatering, depressurization, mine water management, and risk assessment
- Proven capability in field‑based groundwater characterization, hydrogeological modelling and compliance monitoring
- Proficiency with GIS tools and hydrogeological data management systems
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently but also collaboratively across disciplines
- This role is primarily a technical, individual contributor position supporting multiple sites and project teams. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and industry specialists, with opportunities for domestic and international travel to operating mines and project locations where conditions may vary.
- The preferred location for candidates is near our corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado; however highly qualified candidates near our regional offices or any of our site locations will be considered.
- Collaboration and interaction are expected with teams across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.
- The listed salary range applies to positions based in Colorado. Compensation may vary for candidates hired in other locations.
Salary range: USD $106,200 – $148,680 (Colorado market). The salary offer will be based on job‑related education, training, and/or experience and will not consider the candidate’s salary history at other jobs.
