TheOpportunity
Responsible for the preparation of detailed cost estimates for a diverse client base including municipal, government and private clients. Project types include water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipeline conveyance, heavy civil and structural projects, dams and hydro facilities, tunnel construction, waterway, and marine construction. This is a hybrid position at one of our US Regional Offices.

- Retains primary accountability for estimate compliance for each project.
- Prepares complete and accurate cost estimates.
- Performs quantity takeoffs for estimates and assigns crews and productivity for each discipline.
- Reviews all scopes to ensure compliance with project documents.
- Prepares cost estimates on proposals, projects and studies and ensures content is complete, accurate and meets requirements.
- Works with design teams to understand project complexity, size and process systems required.
- Provides technical advice and assistance in the preparation of estimates ranging from simple to complex multi-billion-dollar lump sum bids.
- Manages multiple projects and estimate timelines.
- Coordinates with design, operation and procurement teams on project status and due dates.
- Communicates with estimating team on all stages of project, time limits and support required.
- Appraises overall accuracy of estimates and recommends contingencies for different estimate types.
- Assists the Solution Team Leader with independent assessment of estimate accuracy.
- Leads internal and multi-department review meetings to ensure alignment on scope and project definitions.
- Ensures orderly flow of project assignments within schedules and budgeted hours.
- Directs, trains, and develops subordinates or junior estimators.
- Supports continuous improvement activities and maintains the estimating database.
- Plans, coordinates, reviews, verifies, and analyzes all aspects of estimates and presentations.
- Assists in planning formal training programs to maintain estimating techniques and capabilities.
- Keeps familiarity with estimating and cost engineering developments and suggests applicable improvements.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of estimating experience.
- BS or MS in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required.
- Cost control and scheduling exposure is a plus.
- Ability to manage extremely complex estimates (size, scope or organization, multinational joint ventures).
- Scheduling/planning, cost engineering, leadership and staff development skills.
- Mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with InEight Estimating.
- 8 to 20 years of relevant experience including estimating experience.
- Field and/or project experience.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements as applicable (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records).
- Typical office environment.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance and assignments.
