The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician supports civil site development by producing and modifying engineering drawings and models under general supervision. This role applies foundational civil engineering principles to develop accurate, high quality deliverables using tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, helping ensure site designs are functional, and aligned with mission critical goals.
Responsibilities- Function in a project engineering technician capacity, supporting engineering and design teams.
- Develop and modify technical deliverables under general direction.
- Apply foundational engineering principles and design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
- Utilize digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians.
- Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and BV policies and procedures.
- Review project requirements and determine correct format and content of required deliverables.
- Proactively apply BV Quality Program to deliverables, demonstrate personal accuracy, and support continuous improvement and change management.
- Review design inputs to ensure consistency.
- Assist in ensuring deliverables are in compliance with specific codes and standards.
- Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and record-keeping.
- Review deliverables of others.
- Define work assignments and maintain schedules.
- Program control systems or participate in other plant start-up activities.
- Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information.
- Support field activities.
- Focus on the needs of internal clients while understanding external client interests.
- Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
- Diploma or Certificate preferred.
- Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
- Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
