Job Title:
Entry Level Mechanical Engineer
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to design packaging and material handling equipment, including conveyor systems and large mechanical assemblies. You will work on real-world projects in a rapidly growing organization, gain hands‑on experience in machine and mechanical design, and contribute to the development of complex systems from concept through fabrication. The position is ideal for early‑career engineers seeking strong technical training, exposure to modern design tools, and clear paths for growth across multiple business units.
Responsibilities- Design packaging and material handling equipment, including conveyor systems and other large mechanical systems.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs using Solid Works or similar 3D CAD tools, including 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Create and maintain shop drawings and fabrication drawings that clearly communicate design intent to manufacturing teams.
- Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Design and detail sheet metal components and assemblies as part of larger mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project requirements.
- Support the development of large systems by detailing components, subassemblies, and interfaces between equipment.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback from stakeholders, fabrication teams, and field performance.
- Assist in troubleshooting design issues and proposing practical, cost‑effective solutions.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, models, and engineering data, in accordance with internal standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Proficiency with Solid Works is ideal, including 2D drafting and 3D mechanical design.
- Experience in mechanical engineering and machine design, particularly for packaging or material handling equipment.
- Hands‑on experience designing or detailing conveyor systems and other large mechanical systems.
- Ability to create and interpret shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Experience preparing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Mechanical design experience with sheet metal components and assemblies.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them to real‑world mechanical design challenges.
Skills & Qualifications
- GPA of 3.5 or higher is strongly preferred.
- Experience detailing large mechanical systems is preferred.
- Exposure to packaging equipment, material handling equipment, and large system integration is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, clear engineering documentation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Motivation to learn, accept training, and develop real‑world mechanical design skills in a fast‑growing environment.
You will work in a brand‑new, rapidly expanding facility that has recently outgrown its current space, with an additional facility under construction next door. The organization offers strong on‑the‑job training and exposure to real‑world mechanical design projects, using tools such as Solid Works for 2D drafting and 3D modeling. The business maintains a consistent workload with a large backlog, providing stable project flow and opportunities to move between different business units and advance into higher‑level roles.
The work setting is professional and engineering‑focused, with close collaboration between design, fabrication, and production teams.
