POSITIONSUMMARY
Advanced Energy is currently seeking Electrical Design Engineering Interns and Co‑Ops to support development activities across our North American design sites. Successful candidates will carry out their internships at Advanced Energy's sites in Colorado, Minnesota, New York, or California. They will work with an experienced engineering team, closely collaborating on the development of high‑performance, precision, efficient and cost‑effective power conversion, metrology, or controls solutions.
Post‑graduate candidates will be considered for fall and school‑year internships. Candidates should be actively pursuing degree programs at one of the following institutions:
University of Colorado, Colorado State University, University of Minnesota, San Jose State University, or Stanford University.
- Active participant in a core team to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction goals
- Assist in the development, testing, and debugging of prototype power supply units
- Analyze test data and reports against functional and performance specifications
- Interface with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met
- Circuit design of analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits
- Development and implementation of control algorithms
- Design and analysis of magnetic components
- Modeling and simulation of devices, circuits or systems using commercial or proprietary tools
Required
- Ability to work in a lab environment debugging circuits and evaluating product spec compliance using tools including oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools
- Demonstrated proficiency with Windows‑based platforms and with computer‑based design and analysis tools, working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision
- Familiarity with CAD tools for schematics, analysis, and modeling/simulation
- History of firmware programming for embedded systems is a plus
- Ability to work with serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C
- Candidates working toward MS or Ph.D. degrees in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to those with a Power Electronics and/or Controls focus, but other fields consistent with Advanced Energy's needs will also be considered
- GPA > 3.25
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. The range of starting pay for this role is $30 to $38 per hour.
