Senior Pipeline Water/Wastewater Engineer – Pipeline/Pump Systems
Join WSP’s Design Team supporting municipal and industrial projects in Arizona and the Southwest US. This role interacts with all members of the project team, including clients and construction contractors.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering services in support of planning, studies, analysis, and design of water conveyance/distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems, including pump/lift stations, wells, chemical feed systems, and storage reservoirs.
- Develop engineering studies, design reports, construction documents, and construction oversight/administration related to water/wastewater infrastructure in municipal and industrial markets.
- Produce drawings, calculations, and other engineering documentation following good engineering practices, relevant codes, and standards.
- Create detailed designs of water and wastewater piping systems.
- Set up and perform hydraulic modeling for water and sewer systems.
- Prepare pump and piping system calculations.
- Perform pipe stress analysis.
- Develop/sub‑supervise technical pipe, pump, and equipment specifications.
- Check design computations and quantity estimates.
- Coordinate and interface with vendors.
- Prepare technical evaluations of suppliers’ proposals.
- Work with CAD designers to prepare plans/drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure using industry‑standard platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, etc. CAD skill considered a plus.
- Develop scope, costs, budgets, and schedules for studies, design and construction services related to water and wastewater projects, including pipeline and pump stations.
- Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Give effective presentations to clients.
- Work and communicate with project management team.
- Assure that all work on assigned projects is timely, accurate and of high quality.
- Organize, plan, and coordinate own work and resources assigned to specific projects.
- Work with and mentor junior staff.
- Occasional field work and travel to project sites (≈5% overnight travel).
- BS degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field. MS is a plus.
- PE or PE eligibility required.
- Minimum 7–10+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated engineering experience in multi‑disciplined water/wastewater projects, including client interactions and successful project delivery respecting scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
- Experience with planning, studies, analysis, and design of water conveyance/distribution and wastewater systems.
- Project management responsibility experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills; ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate meetings, conduct client presentations, and prepare written reports.
- Self‑motivated, team‑oriented, hardworking, and intent on quality.
- Willingness to travel to project sites for occasional field work (≈5% overnight travel).
- Must pass a background check and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $95,000 - $169,290
