Position: ESTIMATOR 3 SR

Description

This position is for an Estimator to support the electrical estimation process for various building types in the Denver market.

General Responsibilities
  • Maintain open communication lines with all working relationships.
  • Follow up to ensure items for which the job is accountable are performed.
  • Earn and maintain customer trust.

  • Assist CE with special projects and tasks as needed.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Perform conceptual estimating.
  • Begin to deal directly with general contractors or vendors as a company representative regarding the estimate.
  • Understand the National Electric Code to review drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform or review electrical layout of incomplete drawings to ensure they meet NEC.
  • Read and understand architect‑provided narratives, applying independent judgment.
  • Enter information into the estimating system.
  • Determine equipment cost in lieu of quotes, using independent judgment guided by the Preconstruction Manager.
  • Write complete proposals and narratives, developing a budget for the project based on incomplete information.
  • Perform pre‑bid reviews with junior estimators and track all cost impacts and changes, generating cost alternatives (value engineering).
  • Attend pre‑construction job meetings representing the company to clients.
  • Attend turnover meetings to explain estimate and budget to construction personnel.
  • Perform hard bid estimates and full take‑off by scraping plans, counting fixtures, and entering data.
  • Send quotes to vendors, enter and price vendor quotes, and scope contracts, recommending revisions where necessary.
  • Participate in vendor selection along with PCM and ensure complete packages.
  • Qualify exceptions, explain deviations from drawings to the general contractor.
  • Answer general questions from the contractor about the estimate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Organizing work to accomplish tasks.
  • Reading, writing, multitasking, managing multiple priorities.
  • Problem solving to form independent solutions.
  • Tracking numbers and data relevant to the work.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Degree in a related field and completion of an electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Three years of progressive experience in the electrical trade plus at least two years of estimating experience.
  • A construction management or power engineering degree with proficient estimating experience is a plus.
