Assistant BIM Coordinator / Assistant VDC Coordinator Denver, Colorado $60,000 - $80,000 Base + Benefits + Career Growth Join a Growing Mechanical Construction Team

Our client is a leading mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC, piping, retrofit, and design‑build projects throughout Colorado. As the company continues to expand its Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) capabilities, they are seeking an Assistant BIM Coordinator to support project modeling, drafting, coordination, and prefabrication efforts.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career BIM, Revit, or CAD professional looking to develop their technical skills while working alongside experienced project managers, field leaders, and VDC professionals.

About the Position

The Assistant BIM Coordinator will support the development and maintenance of BIM models, fabrication drawings, and project documentation for mechanical and HVAC construction projects.

Working closely with project teams, shop personnel, and field supervisors, this role will assist with model coordination, as‑built documentation, clash detection, and drawing management while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle from design through installation and project closeout.

This position offers a clear growth path into BIM Coordination, VDC Management, and Mechanical Design leadership roles.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with creating and maintaining Revit and CAD models for HVAC and piping projects
  • Produce fabrication, spool, installation, and layout drawings
  • Update models and drawings to reflect field conditions and project changes
  • Support development of as‑built documentation and project closeout packages
  • Assist with clash detection and coordination activities across project teams
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and fabrication personnel
  • Maintain organized project files, drawing databases, and documentation
  • Support quality control reviews to ensure drawing accuracy and consistency
  • Participate in site visits to verify existing conditions and completed installations
  • Assist with implementation of BIM standards, templates, and best practices
Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years of BIM, CAD, drafting, or design experience
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD required
  • Experience working within construction, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or MEP environments preferred
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, point cloud modeling, or clash detection is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
