Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to support mine tailings and mine facilities projects as part of the Mining Division in Denver, CO. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in plant design, with expertise in both 2D and 3D environments, and demonstrate advanced proficiency with Plant 3D or equivalent software.

Responsibilities
  • Develop piping and equipment models, isometrics, and detailed engineering drawings such as P&, PFD, piping isometrics, plot plans, general arrangements, and detailed plans and sections.
  • Set up, maintain, and optimize Plant 3D project environments in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with industry codes and project standards.
  • Execute complex design assignments independently, including reviewing and resolving discrepancies in supplier documents, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor design tasks to meet project budgets and timelines, using cost estimating methods and project change control processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and review work completed by other design and drafting personnel.
  • Work with engineers to create technical drawings from sketches and concepts using Plant 3D and other CAD tools.
  • Provide guiding directions and ultimate oversight of 3D piping design engagements.
  • Implement improvements in design methodologies and CAD workflows.
  • Ensure required deliverables from the technical team meet project requirements on time and within budget.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment during normal business hours.
  • Perform work safely and effectively, following oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues spread among multiple satellite office locations.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized CAD certifications (e.g., CAD 2D Basic, CAD 3D Advanced, CAD Custom).
