We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our client's growing civil design practice in the Denver, Colorado area. This is an excellent opportunity to work across diverse market sectors, including mining, oil and gas, and rail, while contributing to meaningful environmental infrastructure projects throughout the Western United States.
About the RoleYou will support the full project lifecycle across a range of civil and environmental projects, with responsibilities spanning engineering design, permitting, proposal and report writing, and construction‑phase field engineering. Core technical work includes hydraulic modeling and calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations, watershed assessments, earthwork site design, and the development of permit and construction‑level drawings.
Additional responsibilities may include planning, design, and oversight of industrial solid waste landfills, wastewater collection and treatment systems, impoundments, channels, levees, drainage systems, stormwater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, roads, and other civil and environmental infrastructure. You will interface directly with clients and contractors and manage project delivery from start to finish.
This role follows a hybrid schedule with 1-2 days per week in the office, and requires the ability to travel up to 25% for field assignments, construction support, and inspections.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE), with willingness to obtain reciprocity in Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, and other western states
- 5-7+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff
- Experience supporting mining, utilities, rail, or pipeline projects and coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
- Background in land development, including site layout, stormwater management, grading, and erosion and sediment controls
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (e.g., "HydroCAD", WinTR-55, Pond Pack, HEC-RAS)
- Knowledge of road design (particularly Haul Roads and Forest Service Roads), river restoration, and stormwater permitting
