Building Envelope Consultant – Restoration & Existing Buildings
Location: Colorado
Position SummaryWe are seeking a Building Envelope Consultant to join our growing Restoration and Existing Buildings team in Colorado. This position will focus on the investigation, assessment, design, and rehabilitation of building envelope systems across a variety of commercial, institutional, multifamily, hospitality, and residential structures.
The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating exterior building systems, identifying building performance issues, preparing repair documents, and managing restoration projects from concept through construction. This role offers exposure to roofing, waterproofing, façades, windows, parking structures, and building enclosure systems while working alongside experienced engineers, architects, and consultants.
Key Responsibilities- Perform condition assessments and field investigations of building envelope systems.
- Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, façade, cladding, window, and structural enclosure components.
- Identify sources of water intrusion, air infiltration, material deterioration, and building performance deficiencies.
- Conduct site visits, field testing, surveys, and documentation of existing conditions.
- Prepare technical reports detailing findings, conclusions, and repair recommendations.
- Develop repair and restoration designs, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Assist with construction administration services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and punch list inspections.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, property owners, and facility managers.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications.
- Support business development efforts through networking, client meetings, and proposal preparation.
- Maintain compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2–8+ years of experience in building envelope consulting, restoration engineering, façade consulting, roofing consulting, waterproofing, or related disciplines.
- Understanding of building enclosure systems and construction practices.
- Experience performing field investigations and technical assessments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Colorado.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Roof Observer (RRO), or Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC).
- Experience with ASTM testing standards and building enclosure testing.
- Experience with multifamily, hospitality, higher education, healthcare, and commercial building projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
