Job Title
Senior Roadway Inspector
LocationDenver, CO
OverviewJoin our Construction Management Team as a Senior Roadway Inspector to inspect roadways, bridges, and other highway infrastructure across Colorado and the western United States.
Responsibilities- Independently observe the work of contractors during construction and perform quality assurance activities.
- Act as Owner's Representative for State, Federal, or local clients.
- Frequently communicate with client representatives, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel to discuss requirements and coordinate efforts.
- Observe and document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, including daily diaries, payment reports, memos on acceptance or rejection of work, change orders, and more.
- Review contract documents, project plans, specifications, and progress reports.
- Research and interpret contract requirements to determine whether construction work is performed in substantial compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Plan and prioritize tasks, and advise internal project manager or owner of any failures or delays.
- Review contractor pay requests for ultimate payment by client.
- Review shop drawings within area of expertise for conformance with design concept.
- Coordinate operations within organization unit to ensure consistency with policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- With an Associate's degree, eight years of related experience; without a degree, ten years of related experience required.
- Certification (or ability to obtain) in applicable areas of work assignments as required by clients.
- Experience with roadway construction.
- Experience with bridge construction and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls is a plus.
- Good mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Must have good computer skills, be able to process paper and electronic documents, and utilize standard office software.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive backup alarms and other warnings.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards.
- Position may require nonstandard work shifts, such as long hours, weekends, or nights as per client and/or manager's direction.
Expected compensation range is between $85,000 and $110,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
