About the role / Onsite / Full-time / Hourly

Urban Sky is seeking aManufacturing Engineering Technician to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Denver, CO. This teamis responsible for developing the processes and automationrequiredtoproducemany high-quality stratospheric balloons, avionics, and payloads all here in the Urban Sky factory. This positionplaysa criticalrolein helping to buildandvalidatenew equipment, machinery, and state-of-the-artprocessesfor our stratospheric systems. Thispositionwill work closely with automation engineering, process engineering, and quality engineering in a role that is central to the companyforfacilitatingefficient iteration of new productdesignsand improvements coming through engineering and R&D to production.

The technician plays a crucial role in improving manufacturing processes, reducing production costs, and enhancing product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Construct new machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of equipment and products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to identify production problems and recommend solutions.
  • Help maintain records of production performance and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Train and guide production staff on new processes and equipment usage.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing programs.
Required Qualification
  • Proficient fabricator capable of general assembly and experience in at least one trade such as machining, welding, and general use of shop power tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with machinery setup and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance.
  • Proficient with computer software (e.g., CAD, MRP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Associate degree in a technical field or an engineering degree.
  • A jack-of-all trades type will do well in this role.
  • Experience manufacturing soft goods.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma techniques and tools.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Capability to work in various manufacturing environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
  • May be required to stand and work up to 12hrs as needed.
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must be located near Denver, CO.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision.
