Principal Electrical Engineer – Hardware Validation & Bring-Up

Hire Circle is partnering with a leading technology company on the search for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take ownership of hardware validation and board bring-up for a complex embedded systems platform.

This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role for someone who thrives in the lab, enjoys solving low‑level hardware challenges, and wants to play a pivotal role in bringing next‑generation hardware from first power‑on through full system enablement. You’ll work at the intersection of electronics, firmware, FPGA, and system integration, acting as the technical authority for electrical validation and hardware readiness.

As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead validation and bring‑up activities for both current and next‑generation platforms. This is a highly practical role, requiring deep technical expertise, structured problem‑solving, and close collaboration with firmware, FPGA, and software teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead hardware validation and board bring‑up for complex embedded systems.
  • Take ownership of electrical bring‑up for existing and new hardware platforms.
  • Validate power subsystems including rail sequencing, enable logic, and fault conditions.
  • Drive first‑article and prototype bring‑up:
    • Verify power integrity and startup sequences
    • Enable, test, and validate individual subsystems
    • Confirm correct operation at board and system level
  • Support FPGA and software teams by diagnosing low‑level hardware issues.
  • Perform in‑depth lab debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and related tools.
  • Review schematics, power trees, and design documentation to guide validation activities.
  • Define and document test procedures, results, and best practices.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to continuous improvement in hardware validation processes.
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • Due to security clearance requirements, applicants must hold U.S. citizenship.
  • Extensive experience in hardware bring‑up, validation, and debug of complex embedded systems.
  • Expert knowledge of board‑level power systems, including sequencing, regulators, protection circuits, and power integrity.
  • Strong hands‑on laboratory skills with electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to work directly from schematics, datasheets, and hardware design documentation.
  • Proven experience supporting FPGA, firmware, and software teams during early hardware development.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a structured, detail‑driven approach.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence acting as a technical authority.
  • Experience with first‑article or prototype hardware bring‑up.
  • Background in high‑reliability or advanced embedded platforms.
  • Prior experience in a principal‑level or technical leadership role.
