Property & Buildings Digital Advisory Lead – Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, Irvine, Houston, New York, San Francisco

WSP, an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Property & Buildings Digital Advisory Lead, Senior Technical Manager (Assistant Vice President) with specific experience in network engineering and application utilization to deliver client strategic goals by identifying scope and partnering with subject‑matter experts across WSP business lines.

About the Role

Our engineers work on high‑quality, high‑profile national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the strategy and design phases through the final construction close‑out and post‑occupancy. The digital advisory aspect is specifically for a network and integration solutions architect position and not a smart building network administrator or network support position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of Digital Advisory services across a range of projects, ensuring high‑quality outcomes aligned with client goals
  • Serve as a technical advisor to clients, guiding the integration of smart building technologies, digital infrastructure, and data‑driven solutions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated building systems solutions, including OT/IT convergence and systems interoperability
  • Develop and oversee technical deliverables such as system architectures, integration strategies, and digital frameworks
  • Support early‑stage project planning and design, ensuring digital solutions are embedded into overall project delivery
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and platforms to support building performance, operational efficiency, and occupant experience
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective implementation and system integration
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members, contributing to overall technical capability and delivery excellence
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing subject matter expertise and technical guidance
Technical Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Building Technology Systems and Facility Control Systems integration with a keen interest or relevant Smart Building industry experience
  • Advanced degree with direct experience in Building Systems Engineering will count towards work experience
  • Industry recognized systems and or Network certifications (i.e. CCNP, CCDP, JNCIA, CISSP etc.) or ability to pursue obtaining these formal certifications within six months of hire yet clearly exhibiting current technical acumen
  • Experience in innovative design and the interdependencies between sustainability, MEP systems, and technology systems is preferred
  • Data engineering for developing insights to optimize facility operations across facility related control systems
  • Knowledge of digital communication technologies and protocols
  • Knowledge of facility control systems for smart buildings including master system integrator platforms
  • Strong background in converged systems design for various types and sizes of projects
  • Design of integrated intelligent building systems for Smart Buildings is a plus
  • High level experience with network engineering standards and design best practices for enterprise networks including WAN/LAN, WLAN, Cybersecurity, VoIP and Video
  • Understanding of physical and virtual machine architectures
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP layer 2 technologies and layer 3 routing technologies
  • Working knowledge of multi‑tier applications and their inter‑dependencies including cloud hosting and web services
  • Knowledge of information systems security concepts, standards, technologies, and system architecture
  • Knowledge of network and cyber security analysis, identification and mitigation
  • Knowledge of the hardware vendor landscape around network, sensors and control systems
  • Knowledge of telecommunications structured cabling systems is a major plus
  • Prior experience in HVAC design, energy modeling, and energy code compliance for a variety of commercial building and mechanical/electrical system types, green building certification (e.g. LEED, EGC), and onsite…
