Power Plant Construction Site Manager – Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Trades Responsibilities
- Manage daily field execution of electrical, instrumentation, and controls installation, including switch gear, transformers, MCCs, cable trays, grounding systems, and control panels.
- Oversee installation and testing of power distribution systems, protective relays, instrumentation loops, DCS/PLC systems, and plant automation infrastructure.
- Coordinate subcontractor work sequencing, manpower planning, and material availability to maintain schedule alignment.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, and industry standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and ISA.
- Conduct field inspections to verify proper installation of electrical equipment, cable routing, terminations, instrument calibration, and control system integration.
- Support development and execution of electrical testing plans, including megger testing, relay testing, loop checks, and functional testing.
- Resolve field engineering issues, RFIs, and technical challenges in collaboration with engineering and project leadership.
- Maintain rigorous safety oversight, including LOTO procedures, energized work protocols, and electrical hazard mitigation.
- Track progress, support schedule updates, and provide accurate reporting on productivity, constraints, and field risks.
- Assist commissioning teams with system energization, control system testing, and turnover documentation.
Greenville, South Carolina preferred. However will consider any Jacobs office location NATIONWIDE.
Here’s what you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
- 7+ years of experience managing electrical and controls construction on industrial or power generation projects.
- Strong understanding of thermal power plant electrical systems, instrumentation, and control architectures.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one‑lines, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and control logic documentation.
- Proven experience managing electrical subcontractors and coordinating multi‑discipline field activities.
- Deep knowledge of electrical safety practices, testing procedures, and applicable codes and standards.
The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
