IVVO (Integrated Volt-Var Optimization) / FLISR (Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration) Engineer
Location:
Denver, Colorado Type: 4 month Contract Compensation: $37.00 - $40.50 Work Model:
Hybrid – onsite and remote
- Deploy and manage automated field devices such as capacitor banks and protection devices, including system study, settings development, and database updates.
- Support integration of devices into advanced distribution management systems.
- Assist in assessing advanced metering functionalities and provide technical support to field personnel.
- Monitor devices, perform testing, and troubleshoot system issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including designs, calculations, and reports.
- Support bid/evaluation processes, including proposal evaluations and technical recommendations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support IVVO/FLISR programs and system modeling.
- Provide field engineering oversight during commissioning, testing, and inspections.
- Lead small to medium projects; coordinate phases from research to commissioning.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and work order management related to engineering activities.
- Contribute to continuous self-development and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
- BS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering (Power Systems background preferred)
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with Eaton cooper capacitor bank controllers and SEL protection devices
- Experience with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
- Familiarity with distribution system modeling tools such as Synergi and CYME
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Programming skills in Python and SQL (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively across teams
- Experience with utility distribution operations and system optimization
- On-site work capability and ability to work in an office environment
