Job Title:

Bill of Materials (BOM) Engineer

Job Description

This mid-level engineering role focuses on organizing, structuring, and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate product data within ERP systems. You support the engineering team by translating drawings and design inputs into clean, well-structured BOMs, validating part numbers and product structures, and maintaining data integrity throughout the product lifecycle. The position emphasizes precise execution and organization rather than process ownership or system design, and offers visibility into engineering activities and product data across a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

* Organize, build, and maintain structured Bills of Materials based on engineering inputs and product designs.

* Translate engineering drawings and documentation into accurate BOM structures and part lists.

* Enter, update, and manage BOM data in the ERP system, ensuring consistency and completeness.

* Validate the accuracy of part numbers, product structures, and relationships within the BOM.

* Review and interpret engineering drawings to confirm correct BOM alignment and configuration.

* Support the engineering team by maintaining clean, reliable product data and documentation.

* Participate in light ECO/ECR workflows, including updating BOMs and documentation as changes are approved.

* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure BOM data supports manufacturing and product lifecycle needs.

* Help maintain data accuracy and integrity across PLM and ERP environments.

* Contribute to the ongoing build-out of ERP capabilities by applying best practices in BOM and product data management.

* Support product certification activities by ensuring BOM and product data accurately reflect certified configurations.

* Balance hands-on technical tasks with documentation and regulatory-related work as needed.

* Maintain a high level of attention to detail and consistency in all data entry and validation activities.

Essential Skills

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required and non-negotiable).

* Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in an engineering or closely related role.

* Demonstrated experience organizing, maintaining, and validating Bills of Materials (BOMs).

* Hands-on experience working with ERP systems to input, maintain, and manage BOM and product data (any ERP platform).

* Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings and documentation.

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with structured data and part numbers.

* Ability to work closely with engineering teams to translate design inputs into structured BOMs.

* Experience in manufacturing environments supporting product data, BOMs, or related functions.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Familiarity with Solid Works or similar CAD tools.

* Exposure to Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Engineering Change Requests (ECR), even at a light or introductory level.

* Background or exposure to HVAC or refrigeration industries (nice to have, not required).

* Experience working with PLM tools or systems for product data management.

* Manufacturing industry experience, particularly involving product structures and lifecycle data.

* Comfort working in a role that blends hands-on technical tasks with regulatory and documentation-related responsibilities.

* Interest in contributing to a cultural shift and evolving direction within an engineering organization.

* Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.

Work Environment

You will work as part of an engineering-focused team dedicated to maintaining accurate BOMs and product data across the product lifecycle. The role is fully onsite, providing close collaboration with engineers and other technical staff in a manufacturing-oriented environment. You will primarily use ERP systems, engineering drawings, and, where applicable, CAD tools such as Solid Works and PLM platforms to manage product structures and data.

The team culture emphasizes openness, collaboration, and a family-oriented atmosphere, with colleagues who work together to keep everyone aligned on priorities and direction.…
