Job Description & How to Apply Below

I'm partnering with an established, fast-growing commercial mechanical contractor in the Denver metro area to hire a VDC Technician — and this one's a genuine ground-floor opportunity.

My client launched their Virtual Design & Construction team about a year ago. It's taken off, and they're now adding their second team member to help shape where the program goes next. You won't be plugging into a rigid legacy pipeline — you'll help build the standards, tools, and workflows from the ground up.

If you love turning real-world field conditions into precise models and fabrication drawings, and you want to grow with a department that's expanding fast, let's talk.

What you'll do
  • Build as-built 3D models of existing project sites using 3D scanning tools
  • Produce 2D and 3D fabrication drawings for piping systems in AutoCAD, Revit, or Solid Works
  • Develop isometric, spool, and layout drawings for fabrication and installation
  • Run clash detection and coordinate early with architects, engineers, PMs, and shop/field supervisors
  • Help develop drafting templates, standards, and a quality-control program from scratch
  • Keep drawings and models current and accessible to field installers
What we're looking for
  • A drafting/design foundation — a degree, certificate, or equivalent in mechanical engineering, CAD/BIM, construction management, or drafting & design technology
  • Proficiency (or strong aptitude) in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Recent grads are encouraged to apply — my client will train the right person
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and genuinely excited to help build something new
  • Comfortable with periodic site visits (climbing ladders, active construction, varied conditions)
Why this role
  • Ground floor of a department that's growing fast — your work shapes how it runs
  • Modern tools and a modern approach, not the old-school way of doing things
  • A real growth path — the first hire on this team was promoted within a year
  • An established, well-backed company with long-term stability behind it
