We are seeking an experienced Substation Physical - Principal Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership:
    Provide strong leadership, overseeing team management, staffing, planning, training, and resource development to ensure the successful execution of projects. Drive delivery of substation projects ensuring they meet quality standards and client specific requirements. Establish and communicate short- and long-term goals, with clear KPIs to guide performance and project success.
  • Cross-department collaboration:
    Work closely with internal stakeholders across multiple departments (and geographies) to ensure project execution to support company goals and business objectives.
  • Innovation:
    Demonstrate a forward‑thinking mindset, staying open to new ideas, technologies, and ways of working. Challenge the status quo, explore innovative solutions, and continuously seek improvements to drive progress and efficiency.
  • Review plans, sections, schematics, details, wiring and BOM sheets for construction drawing sets.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industry standards, and codes to substation engineering design.
  • Develop, follow, interpret and apply internal, client, and industry procedures and standards to complex design situations and provide guidance to staff.
  • Develop, review and evaluate design alternatives based on experience, standards, and codes to solve constructability and design challenges and provide direction to staff.
  • Drive business success in coordination with Business Development, Project Management, and Sr Leadership with a deep understanding of proposals, financials, and relationship implications to company success.
  • Lead client interactions either from an office or field environment to answer technical and business questions, drive solutions, and mitigate negative impacts in stressful situations.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders (technical and non‑technical) and demonstrate high emotional intelligence.
Qualifications
  • Experience with and understanding of modeling software for grounding, lightning, and basic electrical calculations or modeling preferred.
  • Intermediate CAD and PDF editor knowledge strongly preferred.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent Engineering BS degree. Preference to Power specific programs.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • 12+ years of experience in substation design and engineering.
  • Ability to travel 25%+ and hold a passport.
  • Not required but bonus: fluency in Spanish.
