Position: Water / Wastewater Senior Project Engineer - Pipelines, Pump Stations & Treatment

Dewberry is currently seeking a Water / Wastewater Senior Project Engineer to work in its Denver, CO office on water and wastewater projects locally and nationwide for public sector utility clients. This position offers potential for professional growth in a great working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to help our clients solve their most challenging problems.

Dewberry’s water practice focuses on delivering high‑quality, complex projects for top‑tier water clients across the country. We are looking for professionals who want to grow with us and help lead our Water practice forward.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a project engineer on municipal water and wastewater projects executing planning, design, and construction assignments.
  • Serve as a project manager on small to medium‑sized projects as required.
  • Collaborate with project managers, other project engineers, technical support, junior staff, and subconsultants to implement fully functioning project designs and mentor entry‑level engineers.
  • Assist the project manager with planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing the work of the project team.
  • Perform data analysis, system modeling, and hydraulic calculations to size and select facilities.
  • Conduct field work to support design, such as project site walks, dimension verifications, limited condition assessments, and client/contractor site meetings.
  • Prepare bid documents (drawings and specifications), reports, calculations, and project deliverables; review the designs of others.
  • Support permitting, easement, right‑of‑way, and other documentation/approvals as required.
  • Leverage assets of the Water Service Line to position, win, execute, and deliver work.
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects and client satisfaction (schedule, financial, and quality).
  • Assist with developing statements of qualifications, detailed proposals, and contracts, and follow through with project execution plans.
  • Increase visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in professional and community organizations.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering;
    Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Colorado Professional Engineer license required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing water/wastewater infrastructure projects, including at least one of the following focus areas:
    • Large diameter pipelines
    • Pump stations
    • Lift stations
    • Water treatment facilities
    • Wastewater treatment facilities
  • Proven success delivering projects on time, within budget, and correctly.
  • Strong client relationship management with a reputation for responsiveness and quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with project planning, design, and construction phase services.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $141,000–$185,000 annually, depending on factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions.
