Wireless Test Engineer (Hybrid/Travel – Wireless Network Performance)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading wireless organization, is seeking an experienced Wireless Test Engineer to support wireless technology validation, network performance testing, and optimization initiatives across 5G, LTE, and Wi‑Fi environments. This engineer will play a critical role in collecting and analyzing wireless performance data, executing field and lab testing, troubleshooting RF and connectivity issues, and identifying opportunities to improve coverage, latency, throughput, and overall customer experience.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong RF engineering background, hands‑on experience with wireless testing tools, and a deep understanding of cellular and Wi‑Fi technologies. This is an opportunity to support large-scale wireless initiatives, including 5G/LTE optimization, Wi‑Fi 7 mobility validation, and next‑generation wireless technology assessments while collaborating with engineering and operations teams to improve network performance.

What the right candidate will enjoy!
  • The opportunity to work on cutting‑edge wireless initiatives involving 5G, LTE, and Wi‑Fi technologies while directly impacting network performance and customer experience.
  • A hands‑on engineering role focused on wireless testing, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and validating new wireless technologies.
  • A hybrid work structure with flexibility between office, lab, and field environments while supporting large‑scale wireless optimization and technology validation efforts.
Experience of the right candidate:
  • 4+ years of experience in RF engineering, wireless optimization, wireless testing, or related wireless engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of 5G , LTE/4G, and Wi‑Fi technologies.
  • Hands‑on experience collecting and analyzing wireless performance data using tools such as Accuver XCAL/XCAP, TEMS, Meritek, Nemo, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with wireless testing methodologies, including drive testing, field validation, lab testing, and network performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of RF performance metrics including RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, throughput, latency, coverage, and network quality indicators.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting Wi‑Fi technologies including Wi‑Fi 5, Wi‑Fi 6, and Wi‑Fi 7.
  • Experience working with Android and iOS devices for wireless testing and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Android Debug Bridge (ADB), device configurations, and command‑line troubleshooting.
  • Experience automating wireless test processes using scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or similar.
  • Understanding of wireless and networking protocols including DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP, QUIC, QCI, and 5QI.
  • Experience analyzing network data, identifying root causes, and recommending performance improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% for field testing and wireless validation activities.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
  • Design and execute wireless test plans to validate performance, stability, and functionality of wireless technologies and devices.
  • Perform field and lab testing across 5G, LTE, and Wi‑Fi environments to evaluate network performance and customer experience.
  • Collect, process, and analyze wireless network data using industry‑standard testing and post‑processing tools.
  • Monitor wireless network KPIs and identify opportunities to improve coverage, latency, throughput, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot RF, cellular, and Wi‑Fi performance issues by analyzing logs, device behavior, and network data.
  • Perform drive testing and device‑based validation using Android and iOS platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve wireless testing efficiency and repeatability.
  • Validate new wireless technologies, including Wi‑Fi 7 mobility features, small cells, wireless access points, gateways, and other wireless products.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to investigate network issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Support wireless technology trials, product validation, and network optimization initiatives.
  • Create technical documentation, test reports, and performance analysis summaries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to evaluate wireless solutions and improve overall network quality.
  • Stay current with emerging wireless technologies and contribute to the development of testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
