New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

This work unit exists to maintain, preserve, and improve the functional integrity of the Highway Transportation System through the Region-wide planning, administration, management, monitoring, and enforcement of Federal Guidelines, State Statutes, and State Rules and Regulations. The unit administers transportation construction and design contracts and oversees the contractors and consultants performing the work. The unit also oversees and manages hydraulics, local agency project design, clearance coordination, advertisement and construction.

Engineer-In-Training II is a first-working level engineer and works under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer. This position builds upon basic engineering theories, concepts, and principles in order to progress to a licensed professional engineer. Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, this position will apply and implement engineering theories, principles, and standards. The technical focus for this position is to provide engineering knowledge and support to the PE I and PE II positions in the Region Hydraulics Unit.

Perform design calculations, analysis, and construction supporting documentation for draining and conveying stormwater related to CDOT transportation infrastructure. Review and comment on drainage designs with other agencies and consultants in collaboration with the Hydraulics Unit Resident Engineer. Support the preparation of floodplain compliance documents to satisfy local, state and federal regulations. Review the adequacy of drainage designs of others and prepare comments to private and public entities.

Provide support to Project Engineers and Resident Engineers with technical assistance in preparing analyses and designs on stormwater design, rehabilitation, and repair projects.

• Provide hydraulic engineering support for all assigned CDOT, Local Agency, and Permits projects and submittals.
• Review drainage construction plans, specifications, and reports prepared by consultants, local entities, and private developers to make sure that designs meet appropriate federal, state, and local engineering standards.
• Work with Project Managers in developing work scopes, person-hour estimates, consultant section input, and hydraulic deliverables for CDOT projects.
• Apply current engineering hydraulic principles, theories, design specifications, applicable design standards, and engineering knowledge to develop safe, efficient, and economical hydraulic designs.
