Senior Mechanical Engineer | Denver, CO

RS&H is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings team in Denver. In this role, you'll help deliver innovative mechanical systems for projects across aviation, commercial, healthcare, science, corporate, and federal markets while working alongside architects, engineers, and designers in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll take ownership of mechanical design efforts from planning through construction while serving as a technical resource for both clients and project teams.

Responsibilities Include
  • Lead the mechanical engineering design of complex building projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems in accordance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project planning.
  • Support proposals and business development efforts.
  • Review engineering work for technical quality and mentor junior engineers.
  • Perform quality control reviews and provide construction phase support, including field observations as needed.
  • Maintain professional licensure and stay current with evolving codes, standards, and industry best practices.
What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
  • 7+ years of MEP building design experience.
  • Experience designing portions of large, complex projects or managing multiple mid-sized projects.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and reviewing technical work.
  • Working knowledge of FBC, IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and related building codes.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading design teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff.
  • Experience with both building and site design.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting business development and client engagement.
  • Ability to obtain engineering licensure in multiple states.
