This Opportunity
- Join an exceptional team focused on expanding SEH’s trail, outdoor recreation, and active transportation design services across the West Region and beyond. This position may be based in Colorado, Arizona, or another strategic SEH location, with hybrid or remote flexibility considered for the right candidate.
- Lead and manage trail, greenway, bike/pedestrian, outdoor recreation, and multimodal transportation projects from early visioning and planning through design, permitting, construction documents, and implementation.
- Develop context-sensitive, sustainable, and constructible trail solutions that balance user experience, environmental stewardship, accessibility, durability, cost, and long-term maintenance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to public agencies, parks and recreation departments, land managers, tribal communities, conservancy organizations, and community partners.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, landscape architects, environmental scientists, surveyors, construction professionals, and communication specialists to deliver integrated recreation and mobility projects.
- Support business development through client relationship building, pursuit strategy, proposal development, interviews, and identification of new trail and outdoor recreation opportunities.
- Mentor and develop junior staff while helping grow SEH’s technical depth and market presence in trail planning, design, and project delivery.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, civil engineering, planning, environmental design, recreation planning, or a closely related field
- Professional licensure or certification such as PLA, PE, AICP, PMP, or similar credential, or the ability to obtain licensure/certification where applicable
- Significant experience leading trail, greenway, bike/pedestrian, outdoor recreation, or active transportation projects
- Demonstrated project management experience, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, client communication, and consultant coordination responsibilities
- Strong technical understanding of trail planning and design, including alignment development, grading, drainage, accessibility, constructability, permitting, cost estimating, and construction documentation
- Experience working with public-sector clients, land management agencies, community stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams
