This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to work on a variety of building projects including commercial, higher education, hospitality, mixed-use, civic, workplace, and other facility types. ** Your Impact*
* As an Associate Plumbing Engineer, you will contribute to the successful delivery of building systems projects by supporting engineering design efforts and collaborating with project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.
Responsibilities include:
+ Assist in the design and documentation of plumbing systems for building projects, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and specialty piping systems.
+ Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system evaluations under the guidance of senior engineers.
+ Develop plumbing layouts, riser diagrams, schedules, specifications, and construction documents.
+ Coordinate plumbing designs with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines.
+ Support project development from concept through construction administration.
+ Participate in site visits, field investigations, and existing condition assessments.
+ Assist with reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction.
+ Apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations to plumbing system designs.
+ Support quality assurance and quality control reviews to help ensure accurate and coordinated project deliverables.
+ Utilize Revit and other design tools to develop building information models and engineering documentation.
+ Contribute to sustainable and energy-conscious design solutions aligned with WSP's Future Ready® initiatives.
+ Remain current with emerging technologies, codes, and industry best practices.
** Who You Are*
* ** Required Qualifications*
* + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
+ 1-3 years of relevant plumbing engineering experience supporting building systems projects.
+ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
+ Familiarity with plumbing design principles, codes, and standards.
+ Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
+ Understanding of construction documents, engineering calculations, and design coordination processes.
+ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
** Preferred Qualifications*
* + Experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, or mixed-use buildings.
+ Familiarity with International Plumbing Code (IPC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), and applicable Colorado codes.
+
Experience with BIM coordination and Revit-based project delivery.
+ LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable building design.
+ Previous internship or consulting engineering experience within the AEC industry.
