About the Work UnitWould you like to be an integral part of shaping the future of transit in Metro Denver? The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is starting final design work to build a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route on Federal Boulevard. Federal Boulevard is one of the busiest transit corridors in Metro Denver and currently buses on the corridor experience significant delays, resulting in long travel times.
The goal of the BRT project is to reduce travel times and improve reliability, and requiring constant collaboration with local partners, property owners, business owners, and more as it spans up to 18 miles of Federal Boulevard from 120th Ave in Westminster to Dartmouth Ave in South Denver.

About the PositionCDOT has a vacancy for a licensed Professional Engineer to provide transportation engineering construction oversight and expertise, while serving as the point person for the Federal Boulevard BRT project's construction. This is a multi-year, extensive project that spans one of the busiest transit corridors in Metro Denver and will use the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) alternative delivery method.
Your Duties and Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following:- Provide construction engineering expertise and project management for the Federal Boulevard BRT project.
- Coordinate with specialty units, departments, agencies, and third-party stakeholders' CM/GC activities.
- Serve as CDOT's representative and liaison to address community groups, local and federal agencies, businesses, and other stakeholder concerns. Attend project meetings.
- Identify major project deliverables. Actively track the schedule, budget and project risks to work together with the staff, stakeholders and the CM/GC team to keep the project on schedule, budget and continually mitigate risk.
- Ensure the project is constructed with quality and unique sensitivity to the community in which it is being constructed.
- Act as primary project contact within CDOT regarding CM/GC to ensure requirements, standards and needs are met.
- Prepare, organize, attend, and facilitate coordination and outreach meetings with stakeholders, public, agencies and third parties.
- Provide management of engineering consultants, contracts, and task orders.
- Monitor contractor compliance with applicable laws, safety regulations, and state, local, and federal requirements.
- Evaluate work activities on the project for safety, environmental and quality concerns, and develop solutions to these concerns.
- Certify that materials incorporated during construction are compliant with the contract and specifications by supervising and reviewing field and laboratory tests results.
