Critical Operations Engineer II Role
As a member of the Data Center Operations team, the Critical Operations Engineer II (COE II) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical data center electrical, mechanical, cooling, and fire/life safety systems to ensure the highest levels of reliability and uptime. The COE II applies advanced knowledge of critical facility systems, including understanding system interdependencies and the operational impact changes to one system may have on others.
COE II supports customer infrastructure projects and collaborates with technicians, vendors, and customers to drive operational excellence, resolve issues efficiently, and continuously improve processes and performance.
In addition, the COE II provides technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to team members while promoting adherence to established operational procedures, safety standards, and best practices. The position also performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
We are currently hiring for the Second Shift Tuesday - Saturday 2:00pm-10:30pm

What You’ll Do:
Critical Facilities Operations
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot mission-critical electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems to ensure uptime and reliability
- Perform facility inspections, respond to abnormal conditions, and document findings
- Track, trend, and analyze system performance; utilize CMMS to manage work orders and maintenance
Electrical Systems
- Support electrical distribution from utility and generator switch gear through UPS and customer load
- Maintain and coordinate work on generators, switch gear, UPS, STS, ATS, PDUs, transformers, and power circuits
Mechanical Systems
- Operate and maintain chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification, and central plant systems
- Support cooling optimization, pumps, VFDs, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and water treatment
Fire Life Safety & Infrastructure
- Monitor wet sprinkler and double-interlock pre-action systems and associated detection devices
- Support customer infrastructure projects including cage builds, rack and stack, overhead installs, power, and cabling
Collaboration & Customer Support
- Partner with senior technicians, contractors, and vendors on maintenance, upgrades, and expansions
- Provide advanced remote hands, manage trouble tickets, incidents, and customer requests
- Lead administrative activities across CMMS, ticketing, monitoring, and other operational platforms; maintain accurate documentation, provide timely updates, and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers
- Provide technical guidance and operational leadership to less experienced team members during routine operations, maintenance activities, and incident response
- Contribute to procedures, documentation, and continuous improvement while promoting Operational Excellence
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:

- Strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Advanced understanding of the interaction between electrical, mechanical, UPS, generator, and BAS/BMS systems and the ability to assess operational impacts across interconnected systems
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, OSHA, and fire life safety requirements
- Comfortable using hand tools, electrical test equipment, and standard computer applications
Preferred Experience:
- Electrical distribution systems including generators, switch gear, UPS, STS, ATS, PDUs, and transformers
- Mechanical systems including chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification, pumps, VFDs, cooling towers, and heat exchangers
