You'll serve as the company's regional energy authority, taking ownership of energy strategy, utility engagement, contract negotiations and power delivery from site selection through energization. This is far more than a project management role you'll be the key decision-maker for all energy matters within your assigned market.
What you'll be responsible for:- Developing and executing the regional energy strategy, aligning grid capacity, utility timelines and customer commitments.
- Acting as the primary point of contact with utilities, grid operators and regulatory bodies.
- Evaluating prospective data center sites, including power availability, interconnection queues, utility capacity, time-to-power and infrastructure requirements.
- Leading negotiations for utility service agreements, interconnection agreements, large-load service agreements, power supply contracts, PPAs and tariff structures.
- Driving power delivery from early site evaluation through utility energization while maintaining schedule accountability.
- Developing strategies around substations, transmission infrastructure, utility connections and energy storage to accelerate power delivery.
- Managing regional capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and identifying opportunities to reduce long-term energy costs.
- Directing external engineering firms, consultants, legal teams and regulatory advisors while acting as the intelligent client responsible for overall outcomes.
- Working cross-functionally with site acquisition, development, construction, finance and legal teams to ensure energy work streams stay aligned and on schedule.
- Monitoring grid conditions, Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs), capacity markets and regulatory developments to identify future risks and opportunities.
- 7-12 years of experience within the energy sector.
- Proven experience leading utility relationships and negotiating complex energy agreements.
- Strong knowledge of regional utility and ISO/RTO markets including ERCOT, PJM, MISO, WECC or similar.
- Experience managing utility interconnections, large-load service applications and critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience directing third-party consultants, engineering firms and external advisors.
- Ability to navigate complex utility and regulatory processes while balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution.
- Strong commercial, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Business or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation or large-scale data center developments.
- Existing relationships with utilities, grid operators and regulatory stakeholders.
- Experience working on both the utility side and customer/developer side of large-load energy projects.
This position is currently an individual contributor role with a clear path to building and leading a regional energy team as the company's development pipeline continues to grow.
The role is fully remote within the U.S. (candidates should be based within their regional market) and requires approximately 25-30% travel
