Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority (ACWWA) provides essential drinking water and wastewater services to residents and businesses within its service area. ACWWA serves approximately 3,500 connections located primarily in Arapahoe County and northern Douglas County in the Denver Metropolitan Area. The Authority is committed to reliable, high-quality water and wastewater management that supports public health and community growth. Team members contribute to maintaining critical infrastructure and service delivery for a diverse customer base.

The Water/Wastewater Utility Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in the Denver Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for supporting the design, operation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment facilities and distribution/collection systems. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring system performance, analyzing operational data, assisting with preventive maintenance planning, and coordinating with operations staff on process improvements. The Utility Engineer helps develop and review technical reports, engineering drawings, and specifications, and may support capital improvement projects and regulatory compliance efforts.

The role also involves collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable utility operations.

• Experience with utility systems, including water and wastewater Utilities.
• Knowledge of Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment processes and operations.
• Understanding of Steam and related utility support systems as applicable.
• Ability to implement and support Preventive Maintenance programs for treatment facilities and infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing water and wastewater systems.
• Proficiency with engineering software, data analysis tools, and standard office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, on‑site environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one is a plus.
