Anchor Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) / Structural Design Engineer with 1–3 years of engineering experience or internship experience at an engineering firm or construction company. Job Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Engineers and Project Managers in providing delegated design services for a variety of specialty engineering projects, including glass and aluminum glazing systems, glass guardrails and floors, blast‑resistant systems, and other specialty structures.
  • Identify and evaluate delegated design solutions that satisfy project requirements and objectives.
  • Perform engineering calculations using company tools and software and prepare calculation packages for review by licensed Professional Engineers.
  • Review and mark up commercial glazing shop drawings, including elevations, sections, and details.
  • Collaborate with project design teams to review details, calculations, specifications, and final designs for compliance with applicable building codes, project requirements, and company standards.
  • Review architectural and structural plans for wind design and loading requirements.
  • Travel to project sites to observe and document structural and building elements for general conformance with construction documents and project requirements.
  • Take thorough field notes and jobsite photographs to document construction progress, installation conditions, and observed issues.
  • Prepare and assist with construction observation reports for review by Project Managers and Professional Engineers.
  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, shop, and delegated design drawings during field observations.
  • Communicate observations, requests for information, and potential concerns with contractors, clients, and project team members.
  • Develop practical knowledge of construction materials, means and methods, and building systems through field experience.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support and guidance to project team members.
  • Communicate with new and existing clients throughout project execution.
  • Utilize Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other company software to document and communicate observations and project information.
  • Perform any additional tasks necessary to support our Vision, achieve our Mission, and uphold Anchor Engineering’s Values.
Qualifications
  • Required
    • 1–3 years of engineering experience or internship experience involving delegated design.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university.
    • Engineer‑in‑Training (E.I.T.) certification or actively pursuing certification.
    • Understanding of structural analysis concepts, including forces and loads, beam design, free‑body diagrams, and material properties of steel, glass, and aluminum.
    • Experience with engineering design software, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and related drafting or modeling tools.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in both office and construction site environments.
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Reliable personal transportation for travel to project and construction sites.
    • Current vehicle insurance meeting Anchor Engineering’s minimum requirements
  • Preferred
    • Experience with delegated design projects.
    • Familiarity with glazing systems and related structural design applications.
