We are looking for a passionate Water Resources Design Engineer / Design Manager with a strong technical background to lead the delivery of cutting‑edge water resource projects across the West Central region and beyond. You’ll partner with Project Managers and engineers to ensure excellence in design, client satisfaction, and project success—all while working with a dynamic team that feels like family.

What

You’ll Do
  • Manage the design of stormwater improvements such as stream restoration, ecosystem improvements, dams, detention and water quality facilities, floodplain improvements, stormwater conveyance systems, and other critical water resources infrastructure.
  • Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, scour analyses, stormwater management planning, and assist with environmental permitting.
  • Provide quality construction documents such as drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Support construction activities, including submittal reviews, requests for information, field and change orders, site inspections, and client and contractor coordination.
  • Support, guide, and manage the design team, including internal staff and subconsultants.
  • Assist project managers with project management duties and be a key client contact.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Colorado or ability to transfer registration from another state.
  • At least 8 years of engineering design experience, including at least 2 years of managing coordination between subconsultants, external partners, and multi‑discipline engineering teams in water resources, stream restoration, stormwater management, floodplain studies, or environmental permitting.
  • Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS 1D/2D, SRH‑2D, EPASWMM, StormCAD, or similar).
  • Experience with or understanding of design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Micro Station / ORD, or similar 3‑D grading software.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong self‑motivation, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting processes.
  • Prior experience as a lead engineer on water‑resources related projects.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
