This role covers equipment including gas compressors, reciprocating compressors, pumps, turbines, electric motors, drivers, and associated auxiliary systems across Midstream facilities. The position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Technical Services, and Capital Projects to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of existing facilities while also guiding the design, specification, installation, startup, and optimization of new and modified equipment.

This role also helps ensure projects and operating practices align with Phillips 66 internal standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for rotating equipment used in Midstream operations, including gas compressors, reciprocating compressors, pumps, turbines, electric motors, drivers, lube oil systems, seals, cooling systems, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Support Midstream operations by troubleshooting rotating equipment issues at existing facilities and developing practical, data-driven recommendations to improve safety, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Support capital and maintenance projects involving gas compression, power generation, pumps, and related rotating equipment systems from early concept through design, construction, commissioning, startup, and post-startup optimization.
  • Review and approve rotating equipment design packages, equipment specifications, vendor drawings, technical bid evaluations, and installation plans to ensure alignment with company requirements and applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and best practices related to rotating equipment in Midstream applications.
  • Partner with field operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to assess asset condition, failure modes, criticality, and recurring equipment issues.
  • Lead or support root cause failure analyses for rotating equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide engineering input for equipment repairs, upgrades, rerates, overhauls, replacements, and system improvements for existing facilities.
  • Support equipment selection and technical evaluation for compressors, pumps, turbines, motors, and supporting systems used in facility expansions, debottlenecks, modernization efforts, and power generation projects.
  • Champion reliable operation, maintenance, condition monitoring, and installation practices for critical rotating equipment.
  • Support development of procurement and maintenance strategies, inspection plans, operating envelopes, and condition-based reliability improvement programs for critical assets.
  • Participate in incident reviews, risk assessments, design reviews, HAZOPs, and other technical evaluations related to rotating equipment scope.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, OEMs, EPCs, and engineering contractors to ensure quality technical execution and consistent application of Midstream standards.
  • Identify emerging technologies, equipment improvements, and industry practices that can enhance operational reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle cost performance.
  • Provide coaching, training, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and operations personnel across the Midstream organization.
  • Represent engineering and reliability interests in cross-functional initiatives and provide technical input to broader organizational improvement efforts.
