Ready to Take the Lead?

CANUSA EPC is looking for an experienced

Lead Process Engineer to join our growing Denver engineering team.

We're looking for someone with a strong process engineering foundation who is ready to take greater ownership of projects, work directly with clients, and help guide junior and intermediate engineers.

You don't need to have done everything on this list. If you have strong oil & gas or natural gas processing experience, can confidently lead technical work, and are ready to continue growing your expertise, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll lead and execute process engineering work across a variety of EPC projects while collaborating with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, vendors, and field personnel.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead process engineering activities from early design through project execution.
  • Develop and review Basis of Design documents, process studies, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Develop and review PFDs, HMBs, and P&IDs.
  • Build and review process simulation models using BRE Pro Max, Aspen Tech HYSYS, or similar software.
  • Perform and review equipment, piping, valve, and PSV sizing calculations.
  • Support relief system and relief header analyses.
  • Review vendor documentation and equipment specifications.
  • Participate in PHA/HAZOP and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Work directly with clients to understand operational and project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
  • Conduct site visits and field walkdowns.
  • Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operational improvement activities.
  • Contribute to project proposals, estimates, and business development efforts.
  • Help improve CANUSA EPC engineering standards and processes.
What We're Looking For Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 8+ years of relevant process engineering experience.
  • Experience in oil & gas, natural gas processing, petrochemical, chemical, or a related process industry.
  • Experience developing or reviewing PFDs, HMBs, P&IDs, process calculations, and equipment specifications.
  • Experience with process simulation software such as Pro Max, HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to independently solve technical problems and provide direction on engineering projects.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Interest in mentoring and developing less-experienced engineers.
We'd Love to See

These are preferred—not deal breakers:

  • Experience with cryogenic gas processing, refrigeration, amine treating, and/or dehydration systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or progress toward obtaining a PE.
  • EPC or consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience leading small project teams or serving as a technical lead.
  • Field experience supporting commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, DOT, and other applicable industry standards.
The Person We're Looking For

You may already be a Lead Process Engineer, or you may be a strong Senior Process Engineer who's ready for the next step.

We're interested in someone who can own their work, communicate confidently with clients, make sound technical decisions, and help develop the engineers around them.

We value practical engineering experience just as much as titles.

Location & Flexibility

This is a full-time position based in our downtown Denver office and is not a fully remote role.

Our team works primarily in person because collaboration between engineering disciplines is an important part of how we execute projects. However, we offer hybrid flexibility when needed for appointments, personal obligations, and other circumstances.

Occasional travel to client offices and project sites throughout North America may be required.

Candidates should have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to project locations as needed.
