Sr Design & Technical Integration Technologist

The Opportunity

RS&H is seeking a Sr. Designer to join our Infrastructure team in Denver, CO.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other designers to determine CAD requirements and deliverables for various projects, including aviation, public works, municipal, and site civil projects
• Creation of new CAD content to meet enterprise standards, including development of integrated production standards and details to increase efficiency in construction document production
• Partner with the Digital Practice team to develop, standardize, and maintain Civil 3D templates, styles, drawing templates, and CAD standards
• Develop and implement process flows for design development and quality control and assurance efforts
• Assess:
  Evaluate current workflows, strategies, budgets, projects, and staffing
• Plan:
  Create a plan for implementation based on CAD Standards
• Solve:
  Execute the plan, provide required training, develop master templates across disciplines, install necessary software, etc.
• Confirm:
  Demonstrate the success of the plan by evaluating goals established in the assessment

• Develop and enforce CAD Standards and quality control strategies for projects. Facilitate cross-discipline coordination and conduct project inspections to ensure standards are being followed throughout the full life cycle of projects
• Provide technical design support involving Civil 3D grading, corridor design, utility modeling, earthwork analysis, and quantity takeoffs, as applicable to aviation and site civil projects
• Manage and perform QA/QC reviews of plan sets and project deliverables across multiple offices and jurisdictions
• Provide general CAD technical support to production staff
• Collaborate with engineering, survey, and project management teams to promote standards compliance and production efficiency

• Mentor and train entry-level engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively
• Implement CAD training programs including, but not limited to, developing onboarding training, continuing education for various staff levels, and leading new software rollouts
• Develop and facilitate internal training and workshops on Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and other digital delivery tools while supporting the adoption of standardized workflows
• Coach junior and mid-level design staff on Civil 3D workflows, company standards, and quality control best practices

• Manage software products including, but not limited to, incorporating new version releases and customization of CAD and related products
• Provide hardware and network support, working closely with IT as it relates to CAD production
• Stay informed on industry best practices to create written evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption for the Airfield Market Segment
• Familiarity with GIS, BIM, and CAD 3D for integration of planning and buildings work
• Track updates to the Autodesk AEC Collection, including Civil 3D, Infra Works, and AutoCAD, and evaluate new tools and workflows for broader adoption
• Support software administration activities, including licensing, template deployment, and troubleshooting for digital delivery tools
• Use Site Ops or comparable site-optimization software to support conceptual site layouts, feasibility studies, grading analysis, and business development efforts
• Lead efforts for the integration of engineering software and plugins

• Work with enterprise Digital Practice and IT to coordinate compatibility between aviation standards and company standards as well as roll out new software and updated versions
• Work with Aviation CAD Standards Committee to determine needs and requirements, implement standards, provide training, and improve processes
• Support consistent CAD and Civil 3D standards across multi-office and multi-region project delivery teams

• Develop advanced Autodesk Civil 3D models (surfaces, corridors, grading) and complete civil/site design for roads, drainage, land development, utilities, and stabilization/restoration projects
• Prepare earthwork calculations, surface models, and QTOs; build accurate existing-condition surfaces using LiDAR, DEMs, survey data, and break lines
• Manage coordinate systems, data transformations, and lifecycle data management for survey and client datasets
• Participate in client meetings, work independently with minimal direction, and coordinate model/data exchange with internal teams and external consultants
• Create and manage 3D federated models using Autodesk and Bentley tools (Civil 3D, Navisworks, Infra Works, Bentley iTwin, Micro Station/Open Roads); perform clash detection and ensure LOD/COBie compliance
• Develop, update, and enforce BIM/CAD standards; conduct QA/QC reviews; and provide training, mentoring, and workflow guidance across Autodesk and Bentley design platforms
• Produce visual renderings and sequencing using Autodesk Infra Works, Navisworks, Twinmotion, or similar visualization tools
