Controls Engineer
Design, program, and support PLC and SCADA-based control systems for large manufacturing facilities. Lead automation projects from planning through startup and production handoff while collaborating with plant teams and supporting multiple sites through regular travel.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA control systems.
- Develop and modify Control Logix PLC programs.
- Support SCADA platforms including Wonderware and related applications.
- Lead controls projects from planning, design, testing, commissioning, and handoff.
- Manage capital improvement and automation projects across manufacturing facilities.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Create technical documentation, specifications, and as-built drawings.
- Support startup, optimization, and troubleshooting of plant automation systems.
- Travel to manufacturing sites to provide hands-on project and operational support.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation, Computer, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of PLC and SCADA experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong experience with Rockwell Control Logix PLCs.
- Controls system design experience, including AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Experience leading controls projects from concept through implementation.
- Ability to manage contractors and work cross-functionally with plant teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically.
- Wonderware System Platform, InTouch, InSQL, DASABCIP, and MES experience.
- Experience in food & beverage, dairy, oil & gas, paper, or process manufacturing.
- Exposure to ammonia refrigeration controls.
- Knowledge of project management, commissioning, and capital project execution.
- Experience managing multiple projects across several facilities.
Hybrid Denver-based role with domestic travel to manufacturing facilities. Opportunity to work on large-scale automation projects across multiple sites within a collaborative corporate controls team, with significant autonomy and exposure to plant operations, modernization initiatives, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
This is a Permanent position based out of Denver, CO.
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $102000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
