Position Description

The Civil/Structural Engineer-Power Systems Eng IV will design, develop, and oversee the civil/structural portions of power systems infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems site development projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
  • Analyze project requirements and create technical specifications, calculations, and drawings that comply with codes and standards.
  • Provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare all civil and structural designs for various projects.
  • Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, and ensure timely completion within budget and on schedule.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure design and regulatory requirements are met and documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review and approve their work products.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and methods in the power systems infrastructure field and recommend improvements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (required).
  • Eight (8+) years of civil engineering experience focused on power systems site development (required).
  • Strong technical expertise, project management experience, and regulatory compliance knowledge for safe and reliable power systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards related to power systems design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to mitigate project risks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required);
    California PE license preferred.
Supervisory
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Authorization | Security Clearance
  • Must be a US citizen due to federal government work.
  • Ability to obtain Military Base Access is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record per CLP Fleet Policy.
Travel
  • Travel between job sites with 20-30% overnight travel expected.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • Salary range: $103,000 – $127,000 annually, based on experience; eligible for Short Term Incentive Plan.
  • We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
