Our client is seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer to support the design, analysis, and testing of advanced spacecraft propulsion systems, fluid management hardware, and high-power electronic systems. This role will play a key part in ensuring hardware performs reliably in the demanding thermal environment of space.
Key Responsibilities- Perform thermal analyses of components, subsystems, and complete spacecraft using industry-standard methodologies to support design development and verify customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain thermal models to evaluate hardware performance in challenging space environments.
- Support multiple engineering programs simultaneously, balancing priorities across concurrent projects.
- Interpret customer requirements and present technical findings during design reviews.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal teams and external customers.
- Support thermal testing activities, including thermal vacuum campaigns and system-level verification.
- Correlate analytical thermal models with test data to improve model accuracy.
- Support the qualification and release of flight hardware.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, workflows, and analysis efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, systems, and program management.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional thermal engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Thermal Desktop (or equivalent thermal analysis software).
- Excellent understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal modelling principles.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Spacecraft or satellite thermal analysis.
- Electric propulsion or plasma systems.
- High-power electronics thermal management.
- Thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing and model correlation.
- Flight hardware development for aerospace or space applications.
