Senior Dynamic Stress Analysis Engineer | Spacecraft

Up to $180,000 + benefits

I'm working with a growing space technology company looking for a Senior Dynamic Stress Analysis Engineer to take ownership of structural dynamics analysis and verification across advanced spacecraft propulsion hardware.

This is an analysis-led role, rather than a pure environmental test position. I'm specifically looking for someone with a strong stress/structural analysis and FEA background who has worked on spacecraft or other flight hardware.

Experience with transient dynamic shock analysis and Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) is particularly valuable.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead structural dynamics and dynamic stress analysis of spacecraft flight hardware
  • Perform transient shock, random vibration and modal analysis
  • Use FEA to predict structural response and assess hardware survivability against shock/SRS and vibration environments
  • Develop and maintain detailed finite element models of components and assemblies
  • Calculate structural margins and support qualification and verification of flight hardware
  • Correlate analytical predictions against dynamic test data
  • Support shock and vibration qualification testing from an analysis perspective
  • Translate customer and mission environments into structural analysis and verification requirements
  • Work closely with mechanical design, manufacturing, test and program teams
  • Present analysis, methodology and technical results through design reviews and engineering reports
What I'm looking for
  • 5+ years of relevant structural/stress analysis experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong background in FEA and structural mechanics
  • Hands-on experience with structural dynamics and dynamic stress analysis
  • Experience analysing shock and vibration environments
  • Transient dynamic shock analysis experience
  • Experience calculating or assessing Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) and hardware survivability
  • Experience with NASTRAN/FEMAP or comparable FEA tools
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python is beneficial
  • Experience with spacecraft, satellites, spacecraft subsystems or other flight hardware is highly desirable
  • Experience analysing technical ceramics, brittle materials or other complex aerospace materials would be advantageous
Important

This is not primarily an environmental test engineer position. The key requirement is someone who can own the analysis side of structural dynamics, particularly transient shock response, SRS, vibration and FEA-based stress analysis, while supporting the associated hardware qualification testing.

Compensation: up to $180,000, dependent on experience
