Corporate Controller

Controller (Director of Accounting)- Hybrid Role - Denver, CO | VC backed Tech + Home Services Business

I'm working with one of my favorite clients, a VC-backed Tech & Home Services business to hire the company's first Controller to own the accounting function and report directly to the CFO.

The company operates at the intersection of Software/Tech and home services - they connect home owners with contractors to upgrade their home's HVAC systems - in the end, the homes become more efficient, sustainable, and tax break eligible (and the company manages the whole process, filing, etc.)

This is the first dedicated Controller in a fast-growing organization. You’ll own the accounting function end-to-end while helping build the financial backbone for a growing business as it scales.

• Build and improve scalable accounting processes, controls, and reporting
• Own monthly close, core accounting, and financial reporting
• Ensure accurate, timely, and audit-ready financials
• Partner with leadership on financial analysis and business growth initiatives

• 7+ years of experience in accounting/finance (sweet spot: 8–12 years)
• Preferred background starting in Big 4 or public accounting, followed by corporate or operating company experience
• Experience supporting a complex business (e.g., product + services, manufacturing, multiple revenue streams, varied cost structures) - can come directly from Tech/SaaS background as well.
• Strong understanding of how revenue, costs, and cash move through an operationally intensive business
• Systems-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning the full accounting cycle
• Full GL Accounting experience

• Strong analytical or practical finance skill set

• Primarily in-office (4 days/week)
• Denver, CO (local or willing to relocate)
