Private nonprofit utilities client seeks an Accounting Financial Analyst to join the F&A Team. Reporting to the CFO and working as their right‑hand, this person will serve as a bridge between accounting and finance team members. As such, this person must come equipped with fundamental accounting acumen – balance sheets, financial statements, debits/credits, etc. They can expect to grow more into true Financial Analysis as they get ramped up.
Growth path: long‑term growth plan, potential to be successor to CFO down the road.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Analyze financial statements, operational metrics, and performance trends to evaluate organizational results and identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain financial models, forecasts, budgets, and reforecasts to support short‑ and long‑term planning initiatives.
- Perform variance analysis by comparing actual results to budgeted and forecasted figures; investigate discrepancies and clearly explain drivers and trends.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and leadership decision‑making.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial data across systems and reports, and support compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Collaborate with accounting staff and cross‑functional partners to align financial analysis with accounting records and operational activities.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Advanced ability to analyze complex financial data and translate results into meaningful insights for decision‑making.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and lookup functions, and experience with ERP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a closely related field.
- A CPA or CFA certification is preferred for advanced or senior‑level placement.
