Position: Loan Processor I

Loan Processor I

Our Loan Processor I is responsible for providing prompt, accurate, and proactive member service while working with members and credit union staff to complete all processing activities for consumer loan applications (unsecured and collateralized, excluding real estate and business loans). Takes ownership of gathering required documentation and stipulations directly from borrowers and coordinating loan closings to ensure loans are complete, compliant, and funded accurately with minimal handoffs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Loan File Review, Preparation & Funding Reviews assigned consumer loan applications to verify all required applicant, collateral, and pricing information is accurate and complete. Completes all required pre-funding tasks and produces loan closing documents. Coordinates loan closings with borrowers, whether through electronic signature or in-person appointments based on loan type or member preference. Ensures loans are funded accurately and within established time frames.

Borrower Communication & Stipulation Collection Proactively contacts members to obtain all required stipulations such as income verification, insurance, or proof of collateral. Confirms all items are received, documented, and meet policy standards prior to funding. Collaborates with Loan Officers and Underwriters to resolve open items and ensure a smooth funding experience.

Service & Turnaround Management Maintains established service levels for loan processing turnaround times. Prioritizes workload to meet daily, weekly, and monthly funding goals while sustaining a high level of accuracy and member satisfaction.

Documentation & Vendor Coordination Works with third-party vendors to obtain necessary documentation such as titles, insurance verifications, and credit reports. Reviews documents for accuracy and completeness before attaching to loan records.

Member Experience & Communication Standards Responds to loan-related inquiries in a timely, professional manner. Maintains clear, kind, and solution-focused communication with members, teammates, staff, and vendors. Consistently represents the credit union's service philosophy through all interactions.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

A minimum of one year up to two years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience. Prefer one year of lending experience or two years of financial institution experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A high school degree or equivalent

Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications require shorter and not in-depth discussions most of the time.

FULL TIME POSITION

Note

Starting salary is dependent on location and experience. Remote is a possibility for those living in Colorado or Wyoming.

Starting Range: $24.83 - $27.83

Full Range: $23.93 - $35.90

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.

Must by capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy.

Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
